Risen Power Electric was absolutely amazing! I will definitely be using them in the future, and recommending to my family and friends! 5 stars!!⭐️ Thank you so much, Keith!
Keith and his assistant did an absolute wonderful job of inspecting, repairing and explaining several electrical issues we had with our home. I would and have recommended them to our friends that want excellent work from a true professional and a very fair price. Mary & Kevin Spiwak
We had a great experience with Keith. He told us what day and time to expect him and he was on time. They installed two new outdoor outlets for us and investigated a sprinkler pump issue which turned out to be a pump issue and not electrical. They cleaned up after they were done. He provided a quote up front and stuck to that quote exactly. We would definitely use them again.
Absolutely the best electrician I have ever dealt with. He was professional and stepped in when another electrician didn't finish the job. We were displaced for a week and a half before he stepped in. He got us back in our home in under three days. I can't say enough about him. I'll be giving his card to everyone I know. My family is Truly grateful for everything he's done. If you're looking for an electrician he's your guy. He does everything to code and he goes above and beyond in everything he does.
Best electrician, he explains good. He works very well and very nice person couldn’t have for a better Electrician, then Keith, I would definitely use him again he did a nice job thank you Keith you’re the best
Keith is a very polite and professional electrician. He applied every applicable business standard regarding my issue. He came out to inspect the problem and gave me a detail estimate. After I received, reviewed, and agreed to his estimate, he was out here to correct the problem a day or two later. He even came out after his normal 8-hour work day. He completed the job the same day. I highly recommend him for any electrical job and I intend to use him again.
Very professional. Came out on a Sunday morning. Figured out the issue and had it fixed in no time. Fees were very reasonable. Will definitely call for any electrical issues again.
This team was so professional, doing the job exactly to my specifications. Cleaned up after themselves and charged a fair price. I will use them again!
Keith will do you right! Prices are incomparable, he’s honest and trustworthy! I refer all my clients to Keith. Best around hands down!
Keith did a great job and was very affordable. I definitely recommend this company
I had an amazing experience working with Risen Power Electric. I was in a tough spot and needed a last-minute electrical fix, and the owner Keith Cotton personally stepped in and saved the day. Keith was professional, responsive, and clearly takes pride in doing things the right way. It’s rare to find someone with that level of integrity and work ethic these days. He handled the issue quickly, knew exactly what he was doing, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. If you’re looking for an electrician you can trust, I would 100% recommend Risen Power Electric. Great company, great service, and a great owner behind it.
Truly couldn’t ask for a more precise, professional electrician! Thanks Keith!
Awesome people !! Always does the work with the most integrity!! For all your electrical needs big or small !
Mr Cotton responded immediately to get us a complete estimate on the work we needed done. On the day of service Mr Cotton and his apprentice arrived exactly when they said they would be here and completed the job quickly and efficiently. There was even an extra repair we forgot to inquire about and they immediately fixed it as they had all of the items needed on hand. Very professional, quick and even loved having our dogs follow them around. Highly recommended for any electrical needs.
Keith is the absolute best. He shows when scheduled, understands the value of communication and acts accordingly, and if it has to do with electricity, he knows how to fix it. He’s worked for us at odd hours, sometimes long hours, and if you’re a client of his and you call, Keith will get there ASAP. He stands out (LIKE NEON) in the current dystopian, upside-down world we’re all trying to slush through. Nowadays, when what use to be the exception is more likely to be the rule- Keith is that outlier exception that does what he says and does it right. And, as if that isn’t more than enough reason to quit scrolling through Marketplace electricians and put Keith on speed dial, he’s a genuinely nice man. The world would be better off if there were more Keith’s in it! Quit looking and just call him, you can thank me later. *I’m not a bot, nor do I play one on the internet. *This is not a paid review.
I would highly recommend Risen Power, great communication, great work,Keith and the crew were very professional and awesome to work with. The project started on time and ended on time.
Excellent communication, work completed professionally, Keith did everything he agreed to. I will use Keith for all future electrical work.
Keith did an amazing job for a fair price. Upon starting the work, there were other issues that arose from shoddy work done by a previous owner or contractor. Keith was able to assess the issues, and, he also had the materials to repair during the same visit. We will definitely use Risen Power for all of our repairs/projects moving forward.
Excellent service and quality work! We’ve used Keith several times and will continue to do so!
The highly detailed review of the job to be done-installing new breaker box, running an 8A line for a new double oven, installing an over the cooktop light, installing 4 new bathroom fans, and more, plus discussing installing a generator for potential power loss- was impressive. The work was done in a professional and timely manner, with outstanding communication. I will definitely use them again.
I’ve had Keith out sever times for many different issues. Light fixture install to a 100 amp electric service that had to be installed underground. He has been a blessing to us. I highly recommend this company.
Professional, reliable, on-time and friendly service. Worth every penny knowing the job is done right and worry free.
Keith and his helpers did a wonderful job on our electrical projects. He showed up on time, cleaned up and kept us informed on all aspects of the job.
Super guy, very reliable, great work and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
Keith Cotton has helped me out on many different projects of mine. I have known him for years. Very professional. Very kind. If you need electrical help, he is definitely the man to call.

Electrical Wiring in Greenville, TX
Wiring methods vary based on application, with each method having specific advantages and code requirements. Romex cable, technically called NM-B cable, dominates residential applications because of cost effectiveness and installation speed. The cable contains insulated conductors and a bare ground inside an outer jacket. Installation involves stapling the cable to framing members and protecting it from physical damage. Risen Power Electric uses romex correctly throughout residential projects. Our team understands the specific limitations and requirements of romex installation.
MC cable, sometimes called armored cable or BX, provides additional physical protection through metallic armor wrapping around the conductors. MC cable installation costs more than romex due to higher material cost and additional installation time. Commercial applications often require MC cable or conduit systems for code compliance. Some residential applications also benefit from MC cable, particularly in unfinished basements or garages. Our team uses MC cable when applications warrant the additional protection.
Conduit systems provide the highest level of wire protection and installation flexibility. Electrical metallic tubing, rigid metal conduit, intermediate metal conduit, and PVC conduit all serve different applications. Conduit allows future wire changes without disturbing finished walls. Commercial projects, exposed installations, and applications requiring future flexibility all benefit from conduit. Risen Power Electric installs all common conduit types with proper supports, fittings, and bushings.
Conductor sizing matches load requirements based on NEC ampacity tables and circuit length. Standard residential branch circuits use 14 AWG copper for 15 amp circuits or 12 AWG copper for 20 amp circuits. Larger circuits use proportionally larger conductors based on amperage. Voltage drop considerations affect sizing on longer runs, requiring upsized conductors to maintain proper equipment voltage. Our team performs voltage drop calculations on long runs to ensure adequate conductor sizing.
Aluminum branch wiring in older homes deserves special attention during wiring work. Solid aluminum branch circuits installed during the 1960s and 1970s have known reliability issues. Aluminum requires anti oxidant compound, listed connectors, and proper torque to maintain reliable connections. Many homes with aluminum branch wiring benefit from rewiring to copper or proper connection upgrades using approved transition devices. Risen Power Electric handles aluminum wiring issues with appropriate methods and materials.
Knob and tube wiring in pre 1940s homes presents unique challenges. The old wiring lacks equipment grounding conductors and uses materials that have aged significantly over decades. Some knob and tube wiring still functions safely, while other installations have deteriorated to dangerous condition. Insurance companies sometimes refuse coverage for homes with knob and tube wiring. Our team evaluates knob and tube wiring honestly and explains options for upgrade or replacement.
Specialty wiring applications include low voltage systems, audio video distribution, network cabling, and security wiring. Low voltage systems use different methods and materials than line voltage wiring. Many specialty applications benefit from professional installation alongside line voltage work for clean, integrated results. Our team coordinates specialty wiring with main electrical work when both are part of a project.
Wiring for outdoor applications requires materials and methods rated for the specific environment. UF-B cable can be direct buried for some applications. Conduit with appropriate conductors provides better protection for most outdoor circuits. Wet location rated devices and weatherproof boxes complete proper outdoor installations. Risen Power Electric handles outdoor wiring with attention to weather resistance and code compliance. The Texas climate demands materials that can handle heat, humidity, and severe weather.

SAFE & CODE COMPLIANT
Every job is completed to meet current electrical codes and safety standards, protecting your Greenville property and everyone inside at all times.
Why Electrical Code Matters for Electrical Wiring
Electrical code on wiring addresses safety lessons learned from decades of fires, electrocutions, and equipment failures. Risen Power Electric follows NEC Articles 300, 310, 320 through 398 on every wiring project. These articles cover wiring methods, conductors, cables, and specific installation requirements for each method. Article 210 addresses branch circuit requirements that apply to most residential wiring. Article 215 covers feeders that connect main panels to subpanels. Hiring a Master Electrician means wiring meets current code rather than just matching what was there before. Permits ensure independent inspection of wiring work. Insurance carriers expect properly installed wiring, and unpermitted work can complicate claims after fires or other electrical incidents. Real estate transactions also benefit from documented professional wiring. Risen Power Electric is licensed and insured, providing protection on every wiring project. Code compliance is built into how we work, not added as an extra cost.
Most Common Electrical Wiring Questions
Wiring projects raise practical questions for homeowners and business owners considering electrical work. The answers below address the most common questions we hear during wiring consultations across Greenville and surrounding communities.
Electrical wiring costs in Greenville vary widely based on project scope and complexity. New circuit installations for single rooms typically run $300 to $700 per circuit. Whole house rewiring can cost $8,000 to $25,000 or more depending on home size and complexity. Commercial wiring projects vary from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands depending on scope. Risen Power Electric provides written quotes with itemized labor and materials.
Wiring method affects cost significantly. Romex cable installations cost less than MC cable or conduit systems because of material and labor differences. Romex works well for typical residential applications where it is permitted by code. Commercial projects requiring conduit cost more but provide better protection and flexibility. Our team recommends appropriate wiring methods based on application and budget.
Existing conditions affect cost as well. New construction wiring proceeds quickly because framing is open and accessible. Remodel wiring takes longer because of fishing wire through finished walls. Damage repair to drywall, ceiling, or finishes adds to project costs. Veterans receive a discount on every wiring project. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the work. Honest pricing without surprises is built into every quote we provide. Call us for a free phone estimate.
Several signs indicate wiring upgrade is appropriate or necessary. Homes with knob and tube wiring or aluminum branch circuits often benefit from upgrades for safety and insurance purposes. Frequent breaker trips, dimming lights, and warm outlets all suggest wiring issues that need professional attention. Older homes that have not had electrical work in decades deserve evaluation.
Modern electrical demands often exceed older wiring capacity. Two prong outlets indicate wiring without equipment grounding conductors, which limits safe use of modern electronics. Insufficient outlets in rooms force use of extension cords and power strips. Lack of dedicated circuits for major appliances causes nuisance trips. Risen Power Electric performs electrical evaluations that identify wiring needs comprehensively.
Major projects often trigger wiring upgrade needs. Kitchen and bathroom remodels typically require updated wiring to current code. Home additions need new circuits routed from the main panel. Adding modern HVAC, hot tubs, EV chargers, or pool equipment requires new wiring. Insurance companies sometimes require wiring upgrades for older homes. Our team provides honest assessments of wiring upgrade needs based on actual conditions and customer plans.
Wiring project timelines vary widely based on scope. Single circuit additions typically take half a day to a full day. Room remodels involving multiple circuits take two to five days. Whole house rewiring projects take one to four weeks depending on home size and access conditions. Risen Power Electric provides realistic time estimates during the planning phase.
Coordination with other trades affects wiring timelines on larger projects. Drywall, ceiling, and flooring work all interact with electrical installations. Rough in wiring must happen before drywall, while finish wiring comes after painting. Our team coordinates with general contractors and other trades to keep projects moving efficiently. Schedule conflicts are managed through proactive communication.
Permit and inspection schedules add days to wiring projects. Rough in inspections happen after wiring is in place but before drywall. Final inspections happen at project completion. Inspectors typically schedule within a few business days of request. Our team handles permit and inspection coordination as part of every project. Honest scheduling commitments mean we show up when we say we will and complete work efficiently.
Texas law allows homeowners to perform some electrical work on their own primary residence, but practical considerations limit reasonable DIY wiring. Simple tasks like replacing identical fixtures or installing dedicated circuits in basic configurations are sometimes appropriate for handy homeowners. Beyond these basics, professional installation typically provides better outcomes.
Several factors make DIY wiring risky for typical homeowners. Code requirements affect material selection, installation methods, and circuit configurations. Permits and inspections may be required even for homeowner work. Mistakes during DIY wiring can create fire hazards that are not immediately obvious. Insurance considerations affect both DIY and professional work decisions.
Some wiring tasks that seem simple actually involve significant complexity. Three way and four way switch wiring confuses many DIY workers. Multi wire branch circuits, GFCI protection, and AFCI requirements all involve technical considerations. Failed DIY wiring sometimes costs more to fix professionally than original professional installation would have cost. Risen Power Electric handles complex situations with appropriate expertise. Our team explains options honestly so customers can make informed decisions. Veterans receive a discount on professional work.
Copper and aluminum conductors serve different applications based on cost, performance, and code requirements. Copper conductors offer better conductivity, higher reliability, and easier termination than aluminum. Aluminum offers significant cost savings for large conductors used in service entrances, feeders, and large appliance circuits. Each material has appropriate applications.
Copper dominates branch circuit wiring in residential applications. Romex cable for typical 15 and 20 amp circuits uses copper conductors. Copper terminates reliably at standard outlets, switches, and breakers. Copper does not require special anti oxidant compound or specific connectors for typical applications. Risen Power Electric uses copper for virtually all branch circuit installations.
Aluminum sees more use in larger conductors where cost savings are significant. Service entrance conductors, panel feeders, and large appliance circuits often use aluminum. Aluminum requires larger conductor sizes than copper for the same amperage rating. Aluminum also requires anti oxidant compound at terminations, listed connectors, and proper torque. Our team handles aluminum installations with appropriate methods and materials. Older homes with aluminum branch circuits sometimes need upgrades or connection improvements.
The decision to rewire older homes depends on existing conditions and customer goals. Some older homes have wiring that remains safe and functional, while others have deteriorated to dangerous condition. Risen Power Electric evaluates older home wiring comprehensively before recommending rewiring projects. Honest assessments identify what actually needs replacement versus what remains acceptable.
Knob and tube wiring in pre 1940s homes often warrants replacement for several reasons. The wiring lacks equipment grounding conductors. Insurance companies often refuse coverage for homes with knob and tube wiring. The wiring has often been disturbed by other trades over decades, creating dangerous splices and damage. Some knob and tube wiring is still in good condition, while other installations have deteriorated significantly.
Aluminum branch wiring from the 1960s and 1970s has known reliability issues. Connections fail over time as aluminum oxidizes and conductors expand and contract. Some homes with aluminum branch wiring benefit from connection upgrades using approved transition devices, while others need full rewiring. Selective replacement of problem areas can extend useful life of older systems. Our team explains options honestly so customers understand trade offs. Veterans receive a discount on every wiring project.
Texas adopts the NEC for electrical code, with potential local amendments. Most common wiring methods are permitted in Texas residential applications. Romex cable handles typical residential branch circuits and feeders for accessible installations. MC cable provides additional protection for some applications. Conduit systems work for any application with appropriate conductors.
Specific applications have specific code requirements that affect method selection. Wet locations require materials and methods rated for moisture. Damp locations have less stringent but still specific requirements. Underground installations require direct buried rated cable or appropriate conduit systems. Outdoor exposed installations need materials rated for sun exposure and weather. Risen Power Electric uses appropriate methods for each application.
Local jurisdictions sometimes amend the NEC with additional requirements. The city of Greenville generally follows standard NEC requirements without major amendments. Some areas have specific requirements affecting service entrance methods, panel locations, or specific applications. Our team stays current with local requirements as part of professional practice. Permits and inspections verify compliance with applicable codes. Honest professional work meets or exceeds code requirements consistently.
Rewiring projects in finished homes do affect walls and ceilings to some extent. Some access points require cutting holes in drywall, plaster, or ceiling materials. Modern fishing techniques minimize damage but cannot eliminate it entirely. Risen Power Electric uses careful methods to limit damage during rewiring work. Repairs are coordinated with painting and finishing contractors.
Several factors affect damage extent during rewiring. Attic and crawl space access reduces wall damage by allowing wire routing through these areas. Two story homes with finished second floor ceilings present more challenges than single story homes with attic access. Older homes with plaster walls sometimes suffer more damage than homes with drywall. Our team plans wire routing to minimize visible damage.
Repair work after rewiring typically costs less than the wiring itself. Drywall patching, texture matching, and painting all add to project costs but provide finished results. Some customers handle repair work themselves to save money. Others prefer turnkey projects where we coordinate all repair work with finishing contractors. Veterans receive a discount on every wiring project. Honest planning during the estimate phase helps customers understand total project scope. Call Risen Power Electric for any wiring project.
